● How did you get interested in computer science?
- robotics → grade 9 first hackathon → tks got me thinking about how I can use tech to make an impact
- a mix of challenge + real world applicability with cs
● What has been your favorite learning experience and why?
- zgl —> went from 0 to build a real working demo
● Tell us about a time when you had to be resourceful.
- marketing and advertising
- make relationships with suppliers
- be a customer support person
- hired people on fiverr
- ran experiments to optimize conversions
- I think you need to be super resourceful to start your own shopify store.
● What has been a difficult technical challenge that you’ve overcome, in the realm of software, science, math, engineering, etc?
- in 8 weeks was able to present a demo to senior managers at zgl and how to proceed
● During the Dev Degree program, it is likely you will fail at some point. For example, you will come across a task that is too big, too complex, and too difficult so that you will feel like you have failed.
● Please share a time in your life where you failed.
- quick background on zilic
- why it was difficult because we were trying to detect ANY disease in an image rather than most models which can only detect breast cancer or any one disease
- hurdles were our initial model had 40% accuracy, read papers and made the model better
- didn't know how to sell so talked to investors from startup accelerator to learn how
- kept thinking what's next
- why it was a failure (hardware limitations + model limitations)
- how I look at failure now - as a marker of growth, anytime I've failed it means I have something to learn and that gets me excited rather than failure
